Tec Rec is here……….are you ready??

What is Tec Rec? | Why TEC REC? | NITROX Instructor | Rebreather Instructor

What is Tec Rec? (Top of Page)

Tec Rec is a new PADI programme that caters to the increasing market of divers who want to go beyond the limits of standard recreational diving.

With the introduction of Tec Rec, qualifying PADI instructors now have access to technical diving courses based on valid instructional design and the proven PADI system.

As the prerequisites and performance requirements necessary to qualify to teach tec rec programes are tough, now is the time to prepare yourself.

Why TEC REC? (Top of Page)

In order to maximise your skills and become more employable as a PADI instructor, it will benefit you to consider specializing in one of the fastest growing areas of diving, whilst maximizing your personal job satisfaction.

Imagine a daily routine that is more than teaching confined and open water training dives to non-certified students. Teaching nitrox and rebreather courses to experienced divers is a way to keep the excitement in your job whilst preparing yourself for the tec rec specialty, the future of diving.

Or just going deeper…….

How To Prepare Yourself
Asia Divers IDC resort offers full NITROX Instuctor and Rebreather Instructor training.

Enriched air equals longer bottom time, therefore Nitrox diving is becoming more and more popular around the world. Enriched air offers more than that though. Knowing how to use Nitrox will open up many doors for you.

Any technical or decompression diving with gas switches such as in the TEC REC Deep course, requires a solid foundation on how to use blends with even more than 40 % oxygen.

Being a Nitrox instructor enables you to teach Nitrox courses thus increasing your opportunities. If you haven't done so already, you must first take part in an Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty course.

During the Nitrox specialty course you will learn the theory behind Nitrox diving, how it increases your bottom time, advantages and disadvantages of Nitrox diving and actually dive using Nitrox.

During the Nitrox specialty instructors course you will be trained by a PADI course director. You'll learn how to teach Nitrox theory as well as supervising Nitrox dives. You will gain more experience in academic presentations and increase your overall diving knowledge and confidence.

  • The course takes 2 days and after this you get 1 aditionnal Nitrox dive for experience.
The package costs $US400 which includes both student and instructor courses as well as the 8 extra nitrox dives.
Not included in the package but required are the Nitrox student crew pack, PADI Nitrox Instructor outline and application fee to PADI.

Rebreather Instructor (Top of Page)

How a rebreather works is very simple. Already more than 120 years ago, Henry Fleuss, a self-taught engineer, believed that there had to be a way to make the diver independent of the air hose and the pump.

Fleuss reasoned that if the diver could carry a supply of oxygen and an alkali to remove carbon dioxide, he could eliminate the air supply from top side.

The first rebreather was born........

Later, around 1911, Dr Drager began developing more advanced rebreathers in Germany. In 1942 the first recreational use of rebreathers took place by Hans Hass.

Today rebeathers are smaller and more compact. This is the dolphin unit you’ll be using during training!!

As Nitrox has become commonly available, the semi-closed rebreather is NOW accessible to the average recreational diver.
The PADI rebreather specialty instructor course will provide you with training from a PADI Course Director on how to teach this specialty course.

You’ll have a close look on how to organize the confined sessions and the Open Water training dives, which require direct supervision, and how to teach the academic portion of this PADI programme.

The course will also provide you with in-depth information on how to prepare and maintain the rebreather unit. Making 3 dives on the Dolphin unit, while discovering and familiarizing with a complete new way of diving, will make it much easier for you to market this specialty programme.

Our course director can even take you a little further into this new experience, and teach you more about gas blending and decompression procedures.

As the prerequisites are tough, don’t waste any more time!!
